Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Or, questions we thought you would probably have. But a few of these are actual questions Veyesee has been asked!

What is naturism/nudism?

Nudism and naturism is about the practice of non-sexual nudity. Technically, there is a slight difference between nudism and naturism, but they can usually be used interchangeably.

What is the Young Naturists of New England?

The Young Naturists of New England (YNNE) is an organization of younger adults living in New England who want to practice nudism. Most places that allow nudity are full of old people over the age of 60, which is fine (I mean, my parents are old, but I still love them), but we wanted to be able to socialize with other people our own age, only nude. We could go to nudist resorts, but while young people will sprinkle in, there is no guarantee that they will be there. So, we started the YNNE!

Do I have to live in New England to join?

Strictly speaking, no, but all of our events will be in New England (Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode island), so you may not want to join if you don't live here.

Do I have to be nude at events?

Depends on the event. Some events are clothing-optional, meaning you can still be dressed. However, most of our events require nudity, since it can be uncomfortable to be nude when others are clothed. We prioritize a welcoming and comfortable environment!

I have never tried social nudity before. Is it okay if I still come to an event?

Yes, you are more than welcome!

If it is your first time, we recommend getting undressed as soon as you arrive. It may be uncomfortable at first, but you'll quickly get used to it, and you may dread having to put clothes back on in the end.

I want to try social nudity, but I don't think I want to attend a YNNE event yet. What do you recommend?

We recommend attending a nudist resort, such as Dyer Woods or Solair. As opposed to nude beaches, nudist resorts are closed-off areas with strict rules that protect their members and attendees, so they are great places to try social nudity for the first time.

What should I bring to my first nudist event?

We recommend:

  1. A towel to sit on. In addition to safety and comfort, we prioritize health!
  2. Plenty of sunscreen, including enough to re-apply throughout the day. The sun may feel good, but it is dangerous, and you don't want to damage your skin.
  3. Footwear, since even though you will be mostly nude, it is better to walk while wearing shoes or sandals. Being nude is fun, but safety first!
  4. A water bottle. Many locations will have drinkable water, but not all of them, so it is a good idea to bring a water bottle, just in case.
  5. A smile!

Also, if you are going to an event that involves carpooling, you will probably need to wear clothes in the car. Sorry!

What is the difference between being nude and naked?

Nude is a state of being undressed, while naked has more connotations of being uncovered or exposed. Check out this article. We use the term "nude", since our goal is to make sure everyone is comfortable, and "naked" doesn't quite fit that.

Does it matter if I'm LGBT+?

We accept everyone of all sexual preferences and genders!

Is this a sex thing?

Nope! This organization is all about non-sexual nudity. We do normal things, only nude. If you want to join a sex organization, that's great, but you'll have to look elsewhere.

Are there fees?

Currently, there are no fees, but that may change in the future. However, we would welcome donations to help pay for the website domain and such. We may also charge for events.

How do I join?
